Hair Update!!!

Nov 4th will be the 1 year anniversary of two things: the start of my blog and when I started my transitioning process. I might not have the time to do a hair post on that day and seeing that I haven't did a detailed one in a long time, I'll do it today!

So as of lately, I've been washing/cleansing my hair by using Apple Cider Vinigar. I simply love it. I never get my scalp so clean with regular shampoo. So I've stopped using shampoo and switched to the ACV rinse. It's really simple. Basically I use 2/3 ACV to 1/3 of warm water. I then twist my hair in to medium size twist and work the ACV rinse through my hair. I spray the mixture on my my scalp and rub with my finger tips and then spray a little more on to my strands to cleanse them as well. After I have did my whole scalp I leave it on for about 30 to 45 minutes. Then rinse with warm water. My scalp and hair feel very cleansed with out having a dry feeling after wards.

Basically the ACV has a pH level that helps break down dirt and other products to to cleanse the scalp. Since ACV had a pH level really close to that of hair it does not damage the hair but rather work with it to keep it soft and detangled.

Since I detangle my hair as I go, when i take the twist down I have an easier time re-twisting my hair as necessary. I rub coconut oil over my scalp and on to my stands and then twist with Eco-Styler Olive Oil gel. Now I twist my hair in flat two stand twist. I do this for a couple reasons.
1. It takes half the time. It really only takes me 30 to 45 minutes to twist my hair this way.
2. By doing it this way I am able to get to my roots so that they are twisted as well.
3. My twist outs last 2-3 more days when I do it this way. Love it!

Anyways, I have six inches of new growth which is average for a complete year because you grow about a 1/2 an inch every month. For most of my hair I have about another 8 inches of hair to get rid of before I am completely natural and in other partd of my hair that are short I only have about 4 inches. ( These areas would be around the nape of the neck and my edges in the front)

Specking of edges in the front, I cut off what was left of my relaxed end to see what my hair would look like naturarl. It was the shortest of the left relaxed ends so I had no problem with cutting this part + it was really hard to keep my twist around my edges looking nice for a long time due to the relaxed ends.  Anyways, I love who it looks and becasuse my ends curl around themselvels I didn't have to use rollers. YEA!

Well enough with the talking and on to some pictures.

This is my new growth when it isn't stretched. Its around 4 inches so I have about two inches of shrinkage which isn't bad.
This is one of the two strands that I cut in the front and as you can see the ends curl all by themselves.
The hair that was cut! Seems like a lot for it to be the shortest part but compared to to the middle it is nothing. Lets just say that I have a long way to go still.

The other side that I cut, it helps show the ends and the length. I love those little twist. lol

This is a good twist that shows the difference in my thickness and length of new growth

This are what the flat two strand twist look like. It is basically a french braid but twisted instead. They are much faster to do then single twist and the outcome last so much longer.
And this is what the little twist looked like when I took it out. I love the turn out. It gives me a lot of hope for the future.

Well that's the end of the up date for now. I'll try to do one on the anniversary but if I don't I'll defiantly do one for the holiday since I have a billion pictures to compare. Well that's all folks, talk later!
